Possessed by a Spirit

     In Mali, there is a superstition that a person can be possessed by a spirit. People who have this terrible illness can do everything in their mind because they are out of control.

I have a friend who has this problem. But the unbelievable thing is that she can tell your future, and sometimes her voice changes in men’s voices. It is very scary; if she is alone; she tries to kill herself. She has to be watched every time. In the United States of America; they will say that person has a mental problem but in my country; we don’t say that they are sick because they are just possessed by a spirit who ruled them.

Many of those spirits are not religious so if you put Christian song or Muslim song they will shout, cry, and beg you to stop the music because they can’t hear ALLAH or Jesus name.

Being possessed is scary but the people who are possessed don’t know that they are. Spirits protect those people from many tragedy and we never judge them about their actions because we know that they are out of control and later they become normal and forget everything.
